Busy busy busy busy busy.

It's already midterm, and I have few more paintings on the way, but I don't have good documentation for those yet...so here's something I've done over the summer, based on an image I got from Golden Apple Art Residency.

I also attempted to build my own frame, and that turned out better than I expected!

New Semester!

Apparently, it is already 4 weeks into the semester. I have been busy helping few artists install works for ArtPrize which is a large annual art event held in the city of Grand Rapids. I am not a part of it, but I do have some works up inside Kendall College of Art & Design's Fountain street building.

Right now, I am working on two paintings, one is a landscape and another is figurative. For now, I'll just post the in-progress shot of the landscape one, which is about 70-80% finished. Maybe if I can keep on working on the figurative one without getting distracted with work/class, maybe I can post an in-progress shot of that next week!

Summer Works

Since it's been summer and I am not expected to defend my thesis, I have been doing bunch of stuff for fun. But I have also been working on couple works that deals with my philosophical studio works.

One of them is a re-make of an old idea I had, and this is the in-progress shot of what I have so far.

This is another one that is getting fairly close to finish, just couple more layers here and there. This is a cabinet I built that deals with my thesis, "Searching for the Middle Path".

What happened to summer??!?

So first...I'm terrible at keeping up with this whole...blog thing. Seeing how the last post was in June, I guess I'll try to make it up by spamming all the things I've been working on over the summer...and speaking of summer, where did it go? It's already August...

Oh, and also, one of my painting was accepted into a portrait show in Chicago at 33 Contemporary Gallery...That was pretty awesome.

But here are some of the smaller works I've been working on for fun, playing with patterns and using charcoal and stuff.

Summer!

Well, I'm failing at this blog thing...Partially, it's because I know no one looks at them, but I should post every week when the time comes for people to want to read and see my crap...and mean...Artworks.

SO...It's summer, meaning I should have more time to paint and stuff...That means I have to post some new stuff up, and here it is.

The color's off in the photos, but this one's called Awaken the Giant, and it's oil on construction/cutout panels, with strings and molding(used as frame) and such...It makes more sense if you see it in person...

KCAD Open House

This week, from the 7th - 10th, is Kendall College of Art and Design's annual open house, where the whole school basically becomes a gallery. Stop by to see some great works!

Excerpt from Darwin's Game

So, aside from medium/larger works that I have been working on, I am also painting small panels, called Darwin's Game. It consist of 4 panels of 12" x 12", and I am working on 2 sets right now.

This is one of the 4 panels that I've been working on. I'll hopefully have better images of the series up sometime soon...

In Progress: Searching for the Middle Path

So, I haven't been able to get as much painting done in the past couple weeks. We had a guest critic, Sergio Gomez from Chicago and I have research papers that I have to finish. Busy times. But here's a IN PROGRESS shot of Searching for the Middle Path. It's getting closer to being done, but still need to refine some stuff. Hopefully, I have it fully done in the next couple weeks.

New Stuff

So, I still have 2 research paper to work on and a presentation in the next couple weeks...

But, I am getting closer to finish my large painting, Searching for the Middle Path. Photo should be coming soon-ish...but for now, just some progress on smaller paintings I've been working on. They are IN PROGRESS shots of 12" x 12" paintings, which I have 2 more aside from these...I'll try to keep them posted

To be honest, this one's been done for a while now...but since I've been really busy with deadlines coming up for a lot of things, I'm using this just to make it a easy update...

After the week of April 8/9th, I should have a lot more time to update my blog regularly...

Update on New Painting

Alright, I've REALLY been slacking.
I don't care how busy I will be, I'll start posting every other week at least (hopefully, every week but we'll see).

So, for this week, I'll post some in progress shots of a new painting I'm working on, called "Searching for the Middle Path". Without the buildings (the brown parts on the top photo), it's 72.5", and 60" wide excluding the parts that sticks out...I'm hoping to get this done by the end of the semester...we'll see.

Alright, I've been slacking.
So far, the new semester have been good, and I'm getting couple paintings done.

Maybe next week, i'll post the in-progress photos for the paintings...
